My Problems With Kobe
Lately I've realized that my lack of excitement for the Lakers is because of one person: Kobe.
When he first joined the team I was more hopeful than excited. I have never been too keen on the straight out of high school basketball player. At the time, however, the Lakers were in a rebuilding process. They were juggling coaches, players, and it seemed like they were on the edge of something special...so I went along with it. What the hell, I thought. He couldn't be any worse than George Lynch (George was a starting Guard the year before Kobe came into the league...also the year the Lakers had their worst record in franchise history, so let's just say I had nothing left but hope).
Kobe did his thing. He made spectacular plays, helped ignite one of the greatest comebacks in all of Laker history (the Portland playoff game in 2001), and basically won the hearts of Laker fans everywhere. But, there were rumblings. People saying Kobe didn't get along with Shaq, he didn't get along with Coach Jackson, and I think he was even quoted as saying "I don't like Phil Jackson as a person."
Point is he started to become the spoiled brat that I now see him as. The little boy who no matter how many toys he has, still wants more. The little boy who while riding on his brand new skateboard, is eyeing the brand new skateboard of his neighbor and thinking, "damn, I think I want that skateboard."
So now Kobe has his "own" team, where he is the main focal point. And what's that teams record...31 and 29. Now, if we were playing in the East I would say, "Awesome! We're leading the division." But we are not in the East. So the Lakers are now on the verge of missing the playoffs for the first time since...oh try 1995, the year before Shaq and Kobe came to the team. That's a decade to you and me.
In conclusion...a picture of Kobe's wife. Which is the only reason I am posting this blog. The stuff above is simply filler.

Damn she fine!
p.s. Stay tuned for next week when I attempt to make Corned Beef and Cabbage in honor of Benicio's first St. Patrick's Day...Don't worry, I'll include a picture of Kobe's wife to liven up the post.
Peace out!
