Da-Da Sorta'

Benicio said “Da-Da” last night. At least, I think he did. It sounded like Da-Da and he was looking at me, kinda’. For some reason I didn’t get excited about it because I’m not sure if that was what he meant or if he was just babbling. It’s kind of like when he gets older and is playing little league – he gets a hit off the left field fence, chugs around 2nd and is sent home because the left-fielder slipped while trying to throw the ball back to the infield…I just couldn’t get excited that he hit a home-run because officially it was a triple and an error on the left-fielder. Granted, I’d be happy for the hit. Good job son and all that but don’t think for a second I’m hoisting him on my shoulders for an E7 (nerd baseball talk for error on left-fielder). So this is my predicament.

In other news, Benicio has been saying “Ma-Ma” for weeks now and he looks right at her when he does it. It’s obvious he’s saying it. Violet isn’t sure. I always thought the “D” sound was easier for babies to say and thus lead to the first words being Da-Da or some sort of variation… Maybe this is just an example of his advanced intellect…or maybe he just likes Mom better. I’m a big-boy; I can take it…I was thinking of taking that neighbor kid who doesn’t have a Dad out for ice cream anyways.
