His First Superbowl
I can't remember my first Superbowl but I do remember getting pumped up for them around the age of 4 or 5. It was such a big deal in my family and even though my Dad was never a huge fan of Football (he didn't really keep track during the season like he does for Basketball) this Sunday was an important day for my family. My mom would bust out all the good dips and a few family members would come over. It was a great time. I'm interested to see how Benicio's first memories of SuperBowl Sunday turn out. It will be hard to break the tradition of always going over my parents house. Although, I would like my son to have some early memories of his Pop throwing SuperBowl parties, his mom making dip, and people coming over to celebrate the most over-hyped game in all of sport at his home.
Notes on the game: Not a bad SuperBowl but not a great one either. The Patriots won by three (beat the spread - which was 7 - another game I didn't bet on but picked the winner...I'm sure had I bet on the Eagles they would have been blown out) and the Eagles had their chances in the end and even looked to be the dominant team early on...there just wasn't a moment that stood out for me this time. No dominant player or play to speak of. Just a good overall team game.
p.s. Benicio slept through much of the game and I'm pretty sure he was unaware that the game was being played but I do think he had a good time. The attention he gets at these type of events are probably something he notices. My little sister and two little cousins and I played a little football at the half. Pretty fun for a bunch of little girls and me...It will be great when Benicio gets a little older and he can participate in these annual family games.
